Day 14 - 16 - District conference in Longview.

During the trip it is always difficult to say goodbye to our lovely host families, and this was also the case when we left Victoria Friday morning. But this time we also were meeting up again with some of our former families and friends from the Island - great fun!! Some of them were even driving us to the district conference in Longview - in Washington state. Travelling from Victoria to Longview took about 5 hours, which included a ferry trip and a stop at Nita's fantastic koffee shop.

Elk.

In the little village of Shelton we stopped at Nita's and had the best burger ever and home-made pies with delicious fruits in it. Nita is 92 years old and meets up at work 4 days a week to make the well-known and appreciated pies. The shop is unchanged through ages and is a sight in itself. We wrote some good words in her guest book before we went "on the road again".

We had our GSE-presentation after the German team on Saturday morning. With an audience between 250-300 we were happy that our performance were well received.

Guro's host family were so nice to take us down to the city of Portland to experience the Rose Festival. There were a lot of vendors with all kinds of goods, tivoli and crowds of happy people. Eline and Anette even took the Sling Shot, which is recorded and may appear on this site sometime soon.... In the evening we attended a conference banquet and some visited a local bar with a tribute band to AC/DC.

Anette and Eline before and after their "space ride" - and with a well deserved beer.
